Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using KnotShots ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you disagree with any part of these terms, you may not access the Service. Please read these terms carefully before using KnotShots.

1. Service Description

KnotShots is a wedding photo sharing platform that allows users to:

  • Create wedding events and photo galleries
  • Upload and store photos and videos securely
  • Share access with wedding guests via PIN-protected links
  • Download and manage event media
  • Enable background music for galleries (Pro Plan)
  • Allow guest downloads (Pro Plan)

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time with or without notice. We will not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service.

2. Accounts & Registration

Account Creation

To use KnotShots, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Provide accurate and complete registration information
  • Maintain the security of your account password
  • Accept responsibility for all activities under your account

Account Security

You are responsible for:

  • Safeguarding your password and account credentials
  • Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized access
  • Keeping your guest PINs private and secure
  • All activity that occurs under your account

We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to maintain account security.

Account Accuracy

You must provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and keep your account information updated. We may suspend or terminate accounts with inaccurate or incomplete information.

3. Acceptable Use

Prohibited Activities

You may NOT use KnotShots to:

  • • Upload illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, or obscene content
  • • Upload content that violates intellectual property rights
  • • Upload malware, viruses, or malicious code
  • • Harass, abuse, or harm other users
  • • Impersonate any person or entity
  • • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service
  • • Use automated scripts to upload or download content (scraping, bots)
  • • Resell or redistribute the Service without permission
  • • Use the Service for any illegal purpose
  • • Upload content depicting minors in inappropriate situations
  • • Share copyrighted music without proper licensing

Acceptable Use

You MAY use KnotShots to:

  • • Upload personal photos from your wedding or event
  • • Share galleries with invited guests using PINs
  • • Download your own photos and videos
  • • Use background music you have rights to use
  • • Create multiple events for different occasions

Content Moderation

We reserve the right to review, monitor, and remove content that violates these Terms. While we don't actively monitor all uploads, we may investigate reports of abuse and take action including content removal and account termination.

4. Content Ownership & Rights

You Own Your Content

You retain all ownership rights to the photos and videos you upload.KnotShots does not claim ownership of your content. We are simply providing a storage and sharing service.

License to KnotShots

By uploading content, you grant KnotShots a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to:

  • Store your content on our servers (Cloudflare R2)
  • Display your content to you and your authorized guests
  • Process and optimize your content (compression, format conversion)
  • Create backups for disaster recovery
  • Generate thumbnails and previews

This license ends when you delete your content or close your account.

Responsibility for Content

You are solely responsible for:

  • Ensuring you have the right to upload all content
  • Obtaining consent from people appearing in photos (privacy rights)
  • Compliance with copyright laws for music and other media
  • Any legal consequences arising from your uploaded content

Guest-Uploaded Content

When guests upload photos to your event, those photos are stored in your account. You are responsible for moderating guest uploads and removing inappropriate content. Guests retain ownership of their photos, but by uploading to your event, they grant you permission to download and use those photos.

Copyright Infringement

If you believe content on KnotShots infringes your copyright, please contact us at hello@knotshots.qzz.io with details. We will investigate and take appropriate action.

5. Subscriptions & Billing

Subscription Plans

KnotShots offers:

  • Starry Night ($29/month): Unlimited events, unlimited photos, 75GB storage, background music, guest downloads
  • 7-day free trial: Try all features risk-free before your first payment

Free Trial

New Pro subscribers receive a 7-day free trial. You will not be charged during the trial period. If you cancel before the trial ends, you will not be charged.

Billing

  • Subscriptions are billed monthly in advance
  • Payment is processed via Stripe on your billing date
  • Billing continues until you cancel your subscription
  • You authorize us to charge your payment method on file
  • Failed payments may result in service suspension

Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription anytime via your dashboard. When you cancel:

  • You retain access until the end of your current billing period
  • Your account is marked as cancelled (no access after billing period ends)
  • Photos are retained for 30 days, then permanently deleted
  • No refunds for partial months (see Refunds below)
  • You should download your photos before cancellation completes

Refunds

No refunds are provided for partial months or unused time.All sales are final. However, we may offer refunds at our discretion for:

  • Service outages lasting more than 24 hours
  • Billing errors or duplicate charges
  • Exceptional circumstances (contact support)

Price Changes

We may change subscription prices with 30 days notice via email. Price changes only affect new billing periods. If you don't accept the new price, you may cancel your subscription.

6. Storage Limits

Plan Limits

Storage limits for Starry Night plan:

  • Starry Night: 75GB storage, unlimited events, unlimited photos
  • Optional Overage: $5 per 10GB for storage beyond 75GB (future feature)

File Size Limits

  • Maximum file size: 100MB per file
  • Supported formats: JPEG, PNG, HEIC, GIF, MP4, MOV, WEBP
  • Files are optimized for web viewing (quality preserved)

Exceeding Limits

If you exceed your plan's storage limit:

  • You will be unable to upload new files until you free up space
  • Existing files remain accessible (read-only mode)
  • You can delete files or upgrade to increase your limit
  • We may delete excess files after 30 days notice if you remain over limit

Cancelled Accounts

If you cancel your subscription:

  • You have 30 days to download all files before permanent deletion
  • After 30 days, all photos and data are permanently deleted
  • We will notify you via email when cancellation is complete

7. Termination & Data Retention

📅 Our Data Retention Policy

When you cancel your Starry Night subscription, we provide a 30-day grace period for you to download your photos before permanent deletion. Access is blocked immediately upon cancellation.

Timeline after subscription cancellation:

  • Day 0: Subscription cancelled - Access to dashboard blocked immediately
  • Day 0-30: Photos stored but inaccessible - Download via support if needed
  • Day 30: Automatic permanent deletion from storage

Important: Deletion after 30 days is permanent and irreversible. We cannot recover your photos after they are deleted. Download photos before cancelling or contact support within 30 days.

Preventing Photo Deletion

You can prevent deletion by:

  • Reactivating your subscription within 30 days via the billing portal
  • Downloading all photos before cancelling or contact support within 30 days
  • Not cancelling - Keep your subscription active to maintain indefinite access

Account Deletion by You

You may permanently delete your account anytime by emailing hello@knotshots.qzz.io. Upon manual account deletion:

  • You will have 30 days to download your content before deletion
  • After 30 days, all your content will be permanently deleted
  • Account deletion cannot be undone
  • This is separate from subscription cancellation (which follows the 30-day timeline above)

Termination by KnotShots

We may suspend or terminate your account if:

  • You violate these Terms of Service
  • Your payment fails and cannot be resolved
  • You upload illegal or prohibited content
  • You abuse the Service or harm other users
  • Your account is inactive for 2+ years
  • Required by law or legal process

We will attempt to notify you before termination when possible, but we reserve the right to terminate immediately for serious violations.

Effect of Termination

Upon termination:

  • Your access to the Service ends immediately
  • All content will be deleted per our data retention policy
  • Outstanding fees remain due and payable
  • Sections of these Terms that should survive (ownership, disclaimers) remain in effect

8. Disclaimers & Limitations of Liability

Service "As Is"

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free from viruses or other harmful components.

No Warranty on Data

While we take reasonable measures to protect your data, we do not guarantee that your content will not be lost, corrupted, or damaged. You are responsible for maintaining your own backups of important photos.

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, KNOTSHOTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

Our total liability to you for any claims arising from your use of the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $100, whichever is greater.

Backup Responsibility

You are solely responsible for backing up your photos. We strongly recommend downloading your photos regularly and storing them in multiple locations. We are not responsible for data loss due to:

  • Service outages or technical failures
  • Account termination or deletion
  • Security breaches or unauthorized access
  • Your failure to download before canceling

Third-Party Services

We use third-party services (Stripe, Cloudflare, Vercel) to provide the Service. We are not responsible for any failures, outages, or issues caused by these third-party providers.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless KnotShots and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

  • Your use of the Service
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any third-party rights (copyright, privacy, etc.)
  • Content you upload to the Service
  • Your breach of any representation or warranty in these Terms

This indemnification obligation will survive termination of your account and these Terms.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you via:

  • Email to your registered address
  • Prominent notice in your dashboard
  • Updated "Last Updated" date at the top of this page

Your continued use of KnotShots after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you don't agree to the new Terms, you must stop using the Service and may cancel your account.

12. Governing Law & Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service will be resolved through binding arbitration, except where prohibited by law.

You agree to first attempt to resolve any dispute informally by contacting us. If we cannot resolve the dispute within 30 days, either party may initiate arbitration.

13. Miscellaneous

Entire Agreement

These Terms, along with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and KnotShots regarding the Service.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full effect.

Waiver

Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not be considered a waiver of those rights.

Assignment

You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your account without our written consent. We may assign these Terms without restriction.

These Terms of Service are effective as of October 26, 2025. By using KnotShots, you agree to these terms.
